Women's Networking Event

Hey girls!...Interested in the trades?

Have you ever thought about a career in the skilled trades and technologies?  Would you like to meet inspiring women from your community who have found exciting and rewarding careers in a field they love? Every year Niagara Catholic District School Board and Skills Canada-Ontario hosts a Skills Work! For Women Career Exploration Event.

This annual event hosts young women from Grades 9 to 12 who have an interest in pursuing a career in the Technologies and/or Skilled Trades.  Young women from Niagara Catholic have been attending this wonderful event for many years.

Throughout the day, students hear presentations from women mentors who have careers in technology and/or skilled trades.  These careers include; architectural engineer, civil engineer, construction technology, machinist, mechanic, hairstylist, chef and many others.  These women mentors have proven to be very successful in a line of work that is known to be non-traditional and they certainly provide our young women with inspiration that will help guide them to their own successes.

Girls who have attended the event have commented that they have “learned more from this event than any other” and that “given the chance they would come again”.

This event is always a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with female mentors who work in the skilled trades and technologies, and ask questions about how and why these women pursued this career path.
